The Physical Element of Air

This is the second in a series of six about the Elements

Each of the Physical Elements has unique characteristics and correspondences that are beneficial to know about when considering working with its energies. Air is often associated with the direction of East and the Dawn time of day. We associate it with the color white because this resembles the time of day just before the Sun reappears over the horizon; other groups work with the color yellow.

Magickally, it is linked with new ideas, new beginnings, and any other intellectual pursuits. Air is the only element it is impossible to physically experience as it naturally occurs; we often see the movement of branches in the trees or hear the sound of our breathing or smell the Smoke of incense rising to the Gods, but Air is the only invisible element. Air fuels Fire, stirs Water, and moves across Earth.

It is also associated with the phrase To Know. In order to successfully work with Air and use magick, you need to be certain about what your intent is, to know it within the depths of your soul.
