There are actually 13 moon cycles in a solar year because of the differences in revolutions and rotations. However, each of the moons is associated with different qualities based on agricultural practices, weather, or cultural reasons. It is easy to Goggle and find many different names for the moons of a year. We have worked to figure out what association each moon has for us over the years and have come up with calling this month’s moon the Thinned Veil Moon.

We are approaching Samhain where traditionally many Witches honor their Ancestors and believe that potential communications with them are more easily achieved because this is the time of year where the “veil between the worlds is thinnest” making spirits more accessible. We do work that honors Ancestors at this time of year and thank them for their guidance and support. This may be a good time to perform some magick to create connections with your own Ancestors if you choose to do so.
